The Nova Scotia Lighthouse Preservation Society (NSLPS), founded in 1994, works tirelessly to preserve these historic landmarks. Initially concerned about Sambro Island Lighthouse, the oldest in the Americas, NSLPS now safeguards 25 lighthouses under the Heritage Lighthouse Protection Act.
